Peugeot Shares First Images of Its Electric 208 GTi Ahead of Official Debut
By

Peugeot has released the first official images of the production-spec electric e-208 GTi ahead of its public debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, confirming key performance and design details for the new hot hatch.
The new e-208 GTi will be shown to the public for the first time during this year's running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, roughly a year after Peugeot previewed the car as a near-production concept at the same event.
Peugeot says the production model remains "extremely faithful" to that concept, with only minor adjustments made as the car transitions from show stand to showroom, according to Car Scoops.
Return of the GTi Badge
The firm is positioning the car as the return of the GTi badge, which has been absent from its range for several years and appears now for the first time on a fully electric model.
Power comes from a single front-mounted electric motor rated at about 278–280 hp and around 344–345 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels.
Peugeot quotes a 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) time of 5.7 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of about 112 mph (180 km/h).
Energy is supplied by a 54 kWh CATL battery pack, which delivers an expected WLTP range of roughly 217 miles (around 350 km), lower than the regular e-208 due to the more powerful drivetrain and performance focus.
Rapid charging is supported at up to 100 kW DC, allowing a 20–80% recharge in under 30 minutes according to Peugeot and multiple early briefings.
On AC, the car can charge at up to 7.4 kW, with a full charge projected at about four hours and 40 minutes on a typical home wallbox. Peugeot also offers a function to limit everyday charging to 80% to help manage battery longevity.
Chassis revisions distinguish the e-208 GTi from the standard e-208, including a ride height lowered by around 20 mm and widened tracks at both axles, reported at 56 mm wider at the front and 27 mm at the rear.
The car gains a limited-slip differential integrated into the reduction gear, stiffer suspension tuning and a rear anti-roll bar to increase stability and traction under hard driving.
Braking is upgraded with 355 mm front discs and four-piston fixed calipers, while rear hardware is carried over from the regular e-208, Top Gear reported.
Details for the e-208 GTi
Externally, the released images show 18-inch wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres in 215/40R18 size, along with model-specific bumpers, aero elements and GTi badging.
Peugeot states that the styling intentionally references historic GTi models, notably the 205 GTi, through details such as wheel design and trim accents.
Inside, the car features Peugeot's latest i-Cockpit layout, sports seats and equipment including TomTom-based navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, according to early specifications shared with media.
Pricing has not yet been officially confirmed, but with the regular e-208 starting from around $45,400 in the UK, analysts and local reporting suggest the e-208 GTi will sit closer to $53,400, with some European markets expecting figures from roughly $41,500 and up.
Peugeot has indicated that sales in at least some European countries are planned to begin toward the end of 2025, with wider availability details to follow closer to launch, as per Yahoo Finance.
