Ford plans to restart a manufacturing plant in India after three years since it ended its operations in the country.
As per Financial Times, Ford submitted a letter to the government of Tamil Nadu to reboot a factory in Chennai City for export purposes.
The update was made after India's government sought to attract billion-dollar investments from international carmakers, while also broadening supply chains from China. Ford has operated in India for nearly three decades. However, it closed down production in 2021.

Ford's International Markets Group President Kay Hart stated that Ford has closely examined different options for the Chennai facility and that the company intends to utilize the manufacturing expertise in Tamil Nadu to cater to new global markets.
Earlier, Ford's leading officials had a meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in the United States. An industry insider also shared that Ford's details for the facility are currently "a work in progress."
