Nissan has shared its plans to cut production costs and take its electrification game to the next level.
Automotive News learned recently that Nissan is planning to overhaul its product passage. The automaker will support four to five vehicles and several powertrains with its brand new platforms, leading to slash costs in its development and manufacturing.
Nissan aims to release the next-generation Rogue, which will contain a gasoline engine. Meanwhile, for the hybrids, the e-Power series and plug-in variants would also be released. Nissan also plans to discard the least-expensive subcompact Versa.
Regarding the Sentra, it would still be present in the automaker's vehicle roster. However, the Altima's future is still undetermined. The automaker is reportedly uncertain whether to invest in Altima's next-generation units, but hybrids or PHEVs (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles) are possible for the model should the investment continue.
By 2030, Nissan would have expanded its battery-powered vehicles to achieve the goal of collecting zero-emission cars that create 40% sales in the United States.
Last month, Nissan finally revealed the 2025 Sentra. The vehicle was provided with advanced safety technologies and a distinct exterior. S, SV and SR trims are available for the vehicle.
