Florida Sees Lower Gas Prices for Second Week in a Row
By
Florida motorists are seeing continued relief at the pump as the state's average gas price has fallen for the second week in a row, reaching its lowest level in weeks, according to new figures from AAA and federal energy data.
AAA reports that Florida's statewide average for regular gasoline slipped to about $3.80 per gallon on Sunday before dipping further to $3.78 by Monday, marking a two-week stretch of declines and a 27-cent drop in just the last seven days.
Prices are also down 72 cents compared with a month ago, reflecting a rapid pullback from recent highs that had pushed averages above $4 in many parts of the state, according to the Sun Sentinel.
Florida Gas Prices Decline for Second Week
Federal weekly data show Florida's retail regular gas price at $3.94 per gallon for the week of June 1, down from $4.255 the previous week, a 7.4% decline that aligns with AAA's reported downward trend.
The price relief is being felt across multiple metro areas, though regional averages still vary. In the Sebastian–Vero Beach area, the average price stood at about $3.86 per gallon on Monday, compared with $4.11 a week earlier and $4.51 a month ago, indicating a steady move lower over the past four weeks.
Other parts of the Treasure Coast and South Florida have also seen double-digit cent declines over the last month as the statewide average has retreated below recent peaks above $4.
Analysts say the continued decline reflects a combination of softer oil prices and easing wholesale gasoline costs that are now working their way through to retail stations, Y Charts reported.
Data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, compiled by YCharts, show that Florida's weekly average price has now fallen for at least two consecutive weeks after running above $4.20 per gallon earlier in the month.
The current level, while still elevated compared with some past years, is well below recent highs seen during periods of tighter global supply and stronger seasonal demand.
Higher Averages Compared to Last Year
Despite the recent drop, current averages remain higher than at this time last year, underscoring how volatile fuel costs have been over the last 12 months.
Florida's latest weekly reading of $3.94 per gallon is roughly 32.75% above the $2.97 level recorded a year ago, according to the EIA series.
For many drivers, that means that even with the back-to-back weekly declines, filling a standard 15-gallon tank still costs several dollars more than it did last summer.
Statewide trackers say they will continue monitoring crude oil markets, refinery output and regional supply conditions to determine whether the downward trend can continue into the coming weeks.
While the recent pullback has offered some short-term relief, any shift in global production, hurricane-related disruptions, or changes in demand could quickly affect pump prices in Florida.
For now, the latest data confirm that Florida gas prices are lower for the second straight week, giving drivers some measurable, if still limited, savings on their regular fill-ups, as per CBS12.
