Eight heavy electric trucks were delivered to customers in Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay by Volvo Trucks. Offering people vehicles that are environmentally friendly is a big step forward for Volvo as it goes into Latin America. These deals are major because they are Volvo's first steps into the electric truck business in Latin America. This makes its reputation stronger around the world. Furthermore, these moves into Latin America are part of Volvo's plan to sell its battery-electric cars in more places.

Volvo Trucks Enters Latin American Market

The pioneering journey of their heavy-duty electric trucks in Latin America commenced with the recent delivery to customers located in Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay. Prior to this Volvo already delivered electric trucks to customers spanning six continents and 45 different countries.

Latin America, in particular, has demonstrated a growing enthusiasm among transportation companies to transition towards more sustainable heavy transportation methods, exemplified by these orders. In 2022, Brazil emerged as a pivotal market for Volvo Trucks, with a remarkable delivery of 26,159 trucks to customers.

Volvo Trucks Latin America's President, Wilson Lirmann, expresses pride and enthusiasm in supporting customers embarking on their electrification journey, foreseeing an imminent influx of transport companies embracing zero-emission trucking practices.

Reports stated that, in Brazil, Reiter Log, a prominent logistics giant, has committed to incorporating five Volvo FM Electric vehicles into their diverse route network, facilitated through Volvo Financial Services. Meanwhile, in Chile, both SQM and El Libertador have commenced operations with a Volvo FH Electric truck each. In Uruguay, Bitafal has taken the initiative to employ a Volvo FM Electric vehicle.

The electric variants of Volvo FH and Volvo FM boast an impressive total weight capacity of 44 tonnes, combined with an impressive range of up to 300 kilometers on a full charge. Volvo Trucks, a pioneer in electric truck production since 2019, now has six electric truck models for city distribution, waste management, regional transportation, and construction.
