Police Suspects Mechanical Failure for Accident, Bentely Motors to Receive Subpoena

As investigation pushes through authorities are looking into mechanical failure for the car crash in US-Canada Border crossing. The accident last Nov. 22 claimed the lives of a New York couple. Authorities plans to issue a subpoena to Bentley Motors to request any black box information related at the accident near Rainbow Bridge.

Subpoena for Bentley Motors

Bentley Motors may have the answer to what caused the deadly car crash at Rainbow Bridge. According to 2WGRZ local news report, the Niagara Falls Police is planning to subpoena Bentley Motors. The move will request any black box information related to the fatal crash and explosion on Nov. 22.

Erin Bonner Bentley's spokesperson on 2 on Your Side stated that a subpoena will legally require the company to share any information sent by the car's onboard computer or black box in the moments before the crash. As shared on 2WGRZ, the car manufacturer has thus far been unwilling to provide the information voluntarily. Hence, there is the need for subpoena.

Bentley has thus far been unwilling to give up the information voluntarily hence the subpoena. The report also stated that everything won't be clear unless Bentley gets involved. Witnesses of the crash described it as a ball of fire.

The shared a couple visiting from Kitchener, Ontario saw the vehicle explosion at the Rainbow Bridge. Mike Guenther and his wife were walking near the bridge when they saw a speeding car coming towards the border. According to Guenther, the vehicle swerve, then hit a fence before "flying up in the air." He further described it as a fireball and that there was smoke everywhere.

Crash at Rainbow Bridge

The fatalities of the car crash at Rainbow Bridge were identified. They were husband and wife p Kurt P. Villani and Monica Villani. Reports stated the couple were travelling from their residence in western New York to a KISS concert in Toronto, when their Bentley crashed into a concrete barrier at a high speed.

The crashed caused a massive explosion at the Rainbow Bridge. According to M. The Messenger, Robert Restaino, Niagara Falls Mayor stated that the 2022 Bentley may have experienced a mechanical failure.

The report also cited Restaino's statement to New York Times. Authorities are working to identify whether a mechanical failure could've caused the fatal accident. The Bentley was driving at a speed of 100 MPH.

Additionally, authorities are looking at another angle - the driver might have a medical incident. The authorities ruled out the incident as a terrorist act. Meanwhile, Gov. Kathy Hochul through her post in X assured everyone that there is no indication that the accident resulted from a terrorist's activity.

Furthermore, the governor gave details about the crash during a press conference on Wednesday. The Bentley hit a median while driving at a high speed - 100 MPH. Consequently, the care went airborne and hit a border patrol booth. An agent inside suffered minor injuries.

According to the governor, the 2022 Bentley was obliterated in the ensuing fire, with nothing left but the engine.
