Beneath the prominent banner proclaiming "Let's change the future of cars," Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) has unveiled a groundbreaking array of automotive technologies poised to propel the company's evolution into a mobility-centric entity. This revelation transpired during a technical briefing held in Japan, where Hiroki Nakajima, Toyota's Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, elucidated the corporation's comprehensive technology strategy and its visionary trajectory within the realm of car manufacturing.

Working, Shaping the Future

According to Toyota website, Nakajima delved into an assortment of forward-looking technologies, including those still in the incubation phase, all of which are instrumental in realizing Toyota's articulated vision and policies. Accompanying him were Takero Kato, President of Toyota's newly established BEV production center, and Mitsumasa Yamagata, soon-to-be President of the forthcoming hydrogen factory, set to launch in July. Together, they shed light on their distinct strategies for the battery electric vehicle (BEV) and hydrogen sectors, reaffirming Toyota's commitment to shaping the future of automotive technology.

The BEV Factory, an organization dedicated to battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and launched by Toyota in May, has set ambitious goals to reshape the future of the automotive industry. Its primary objective is to usher in a transformation in the realms of automobiles, manufacturing processes, and work culture. This vision is centered on the widespread adoption of BEVs and leveraging cutting-edge automotive technologies.

In terms of vehicle development, the BEV Factory aims to achieve remarkable milestones. Through the integration of next-generation batteries and sonic technology, they aspire to create BEVs with an impressive cruising range of up to 1,000 kilometers. Furthermore, the incorporation of AI in design will enhance aerodynamic performance and aesthetics. The implementation of Arene OS and full over-the-air (OTA) applications will open up new possibilities for enhancing the overall driving experience, delivering unique features that only a carmaker like Toyota can provide.

Regarding production, the BEV Factory aims to transform the way things are made. They intend to use mega casting for effective component integration in the construction of car bodies by employing a new modular framework with three primary components. These developments will cut plant investment as well as the cost of developing new cars. Self-propelling production technology adoption is also anticipated to greatly cut plant investment and streamline procedures.

Defining Toyota Mobility Concept

Toyota's commitment to the Toyota Mobility Concept, outlined during a public briefing in April, centers on three key approaches: electrification, intelligence, and diversification. In the pursuit of electrification, Toyota adopts a "multi-pathway approach," tailor-fitting powertrain solutions for different regions. Embracing intelligence extends beyond vehicles and services, encompassing initiatives like the innovative Woven City project, fostering stronger connections with society.

Toyota's commitment to diversification expands its business focus from "cars" to encompassing the broader concept of "society," encompassing freedom of mobility and diverse energy options. This forward-looking strategy involves significant resource reallocation to Advanced Development fields and increased investment in future-oriented areas, reinforcing Toyota's dedication to leading technological innovation and shaping a future where cars seamlessly integrate with society, poised to transport customers into the future.

To sum it up here are the list of Toyota's newly released technology:

Intelligence Technology

Electrified Technologies - Hydrogen, Carbon neutral (CN) fuel

Electrified Technologies - Batteries, Fundamental technologies to innovate BEV

Diversification Technology
