As modern vehicles evolve with connected car technologies, integrating seamlessly with high-tech gadgets remains a challenge, especially when it comes to smartphone connectivity. Polestar endeavors to redefine this experience. Recognizing the importance of harmonizing its vehicles with users' smart devices, Polestar introduces its innovative Polestar smartphone.

Smartphone for Seamless EV Connectivity

Tailored for Chinese consumers investing in Polestar EVs, this device aims to bridge the gap between car and phone connectivity. Its simple aesthetics fascinate even though its design might not defy expectations. Polestar is getting ready to reveal the much-awaited Polestar 5, and by entering the smartphone space, it is setting a major new move and showing its dedication to improving EV connectivity.

As reported by Hypebeast,  Polestar revealed its ambitious project during the Guangzhou Auto Show in May 2023: the development of its unique Polestar smartphone. Initially slated for a December release, the launch timeline has experienced delays.

The report cited an interview with CNBC, Thomas Ingenlath, the company CEO expressed his vision of creating a car that embodies the essence of a "phone on wheels," a fusion of technology and mobility. This vision extends beyond the vehicle itself to include the development of a corresponding Polestar smartphone.

The integration goes deeper than mere compatibility; for example, if a user engages with a specific app on their smartphone, it seamlessly mirrors onto the car's entertainment screen upon vehicle activation.

The anticipated launch of the Polestar smartphone is expected to debut initially in China, possibly as an exclusive offering for the region. Polestar unveiled its inaugural glimpses of the device via Weibo, with images subsequently circulated by Android Police.

Produced in collaboration with Xingji Meizu, a smart devices company supported by the Chinese automotive powerhouse Geely, the Polestar smartphone aims to redefine the intersection of technology and mobility.

Initial shipments are slated for dispatch by the end of April, marking the commencement of this eagerly awaited release.

Collaboration Brings Polestar Smartphone

As per CarScoops, Meizu, a Chinese tech firm under the same parent company as Polestar, played a pivotal role in crafting the Polestar smartphone. Engineered to seamlessly integrate with Polestar vehicles, this device operates on the identical operating system as the Polestar 4's infotainment system.

Despite its branding as the Polestar Phone, the collaboration with Meizu, another Geely-owned entity, underscores the shared resources within the conglomerate, streamlining the development process. While CarScoops reported the lack of disclosure regarding the Polestar smartphone's specifications, leaving enthusiasts curious about its internal configuration, Tom's Guide provided a glimpse into its potential features.

The screen, speculated to possess a 21:9 aspect ratio, suggests a sizable 6.5-inch display, promising an immersive visual experience. Moreover, when the project was initially unveiled, Ingenlath underscored the significance of the collaboration, emphasizing that it extends beyond mere branding.

Contrary to a mere logo placement, both the Polestar smartphone and the infotainment system of the Polestar 4 are set to operate on the tech company's FlyMe operating system within China, while the European and North American versions of the car feature a Google OS.
