With the unveiling of new Sport Seats for the Model S Plaid, Tesla aims to enhance the electric supercar's ability to handle its remarkable power. These ultra-bolstered seats mark a deliberate effort by Tesla to infuse its flagship performance sedan with added athleticism. As of April 2024, every Model S Plaid will come equipped with these upgraded Sport Seats as standard.

Sports Seats to Match Model S Plaid

As reported by Electrek, while Tesla's Model S seats offer comfort, they are not optimized for the spirited driving experience enabled by the rest of the vehicle. In response to this, Tesla has decided to address the issue with the release of new Sports Seats.

The new Sports Seats noticeably enhance lateral support with their pronounced side support. Key features of these seats include increased lateral support, a modular seat architecture for enhanced comfort and support, along with the same 12-way power adjustment, heating, and ventilation. Additionally, high-performance suede material is utilized to provide increased grip and reduce weight.

These upgraded Sports Seats are now standard for the $90,000 Model S Plaid and are included on all cars built since the beginning of the month. As reported by Drive, the newly redesigned front buckets were meticulously engineered to ensure drivers remain firmly planted during high-performance driving sessions.

Tesla emphasizes that the Model S Plaid Sport Seats boast track-inspired bolstering with heightened lateral support compared to standard chairs. Additionally, these seats offer a premium touch with aggressively contoured bolsters wrapped in luxurious suede material, providing increased grip during spirited driving. To further elevate the experience, Tesla has added exclusive "Plaid composite decor" trim in the center of the backrests.

About Tesla Model S

Car and Driver claims that Tesla has not yet revealed any plans to alter the Model S lineup for 2024. On the other hand, the corporation is well known for periodically updating its lineup of electric vehicles during the model year. Therefore, details provided here are subject to potential alterations. Should any revisions occur to the Model S lineup during the year.

During the team's test, the Tesla Model S showed off an amazing acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 2.4 seconds. The Plaid version of the Model S demonstrated even more impressive performance with a third electric engine, reaching 60 mph in 2.1 seconds.

Enthusiasts of contemporary minimalism will find the Model S's cabin appealing, featuring a sizable infotainment screen that manages nearly all vehicle functions. While technophiles may revel in this setup, reservations persist.

The screen's placement on the dashboard may necessitate drivers to lean forward to access certain icons, particularly those located near the top-right corner. Unlike the more affordable Model 3, the Model S offers a secondary display for the gauge cluster and includes a small touchpad in the rear seat area.

In Edmunds' review, the Tesla Model S Plaid is likened to the Usain Bolt of the car world-an unmatched sprinter on the drag strip. Its hatchback design adds practicality, and access to Tesla's Supercharger network is a significant advantage. However, the Model S also has notable drawbacks, including a frustrating interface, particularly the unconventional steering yoke, and subpar fit and finish.
